Welschriesling from the Szentgyörgy Hill
Date: October 22, 2010
At this time we tried the same vary from the same cellar.

Endre Szaszi is one of the leading wine-maker of Badacsony Wine Region, it's good to look out on him. As start, we looked on his 2008 Szentgyörgy-hegyi Olaszrizling. Vegetal, mineral scent, matured taste, a picant linseed bitterness, some of us found it a battonage. For chily minners, into the survival package.

The 2008 Szigligeti olaszrizling had devided us. It's no question: this is a light, clean wine with mineral taste. The question is: who likes this light but focused style. The writer of these lines found it exeptional, I reccommend to smoked fish and green salad.

The 2007 Kabócás Olaszrizling was grown on the caldron-like hillside of Szigliget Castle, facing to the Lake Balaton. The sunlover cicadas like this vineyard, that's where its name came from (cicada = kabóca in Hungarian). The wine shows a proper brutality. Meat soup colour, interessting roasted aromas and overripe fruits in the nose. Very full-bodied, a bit sweetish, oily character. For millstone droping contests
