In the part of our divergence from the heavy weight chocolate red wines, we tested four great Kekfrankos.
The first one, Tamás Dúzsi's Leányvári Kékfrankos 2006 was a dark drink, with cherry and cognac scent. A soft, very fruity, fiery wine, roller coaster feeling.
The Vesztergombi Kékfrankos 2006 is the student of lighter kekfrankos school. Rigid, but spicy scent, paprika and thyme. Lightness and power, an pagan arrow.
Taklers' Kékfrankos 2007 divided us (67-77 points). It starts with cabbage scent, but after long decanting mushrooms and cinamon arrives. Pleasant, sweetish start with cherry and chocolate, noble pants.
Last, but not least, the La Vida brand showed the potential of Kekfrankos. Dark, mature colour. Spicies and dried plum in the nose. Its taste cries for some fish. Picant, blue and entertaning, like a K.u.K operetta.
