Shiraz confronting
Date: November 25, 2009
Anything but Cabernet. The potential mascot of post-Cabernet world is Shiraz.

The oversea, more exactly Australian Hardy's Varietal Range Shiraz show an excellent price-value ratio. Roasted aromas and herbals in the nose, than sweetish, round formula. If it's a bit longer, could be a great wine.

The 2006 Kőporos Shiraz devided the test team (between 61 and 77 points). Probably this wine requires more decanting. Before decanting it was an ancient power from the Hungarian Puszta. After decanting we met with spices like oregano, mushroom and salt sea.

Last but not least, the 2006 Grof Buttler Syrah is a kind of dessert: roasted chestnut in the nose, and the taste is like black chocolate and orange skin. It's a bit borring but otherwise marvellous.
