Riesling from Balaton
Date: January 15, 2011
We do have a lot of debate around Hungarian wine regions with friends. Around the Balaton-lake there are five small wine regions. These small wine regions are not visible from abroad. The wines were different, but they were not differing in wine region, but in producer's style. All in all Rieslings from Balaton are recommended.

Nyári Ödön1, Nyári Ödön Szentgyörgy-hegyi Olaszrizling 2008

72 points

Fresh green tea nose. Hot, almost sweet, vegetable taste, with a little bit of menthol in the end. Try with onion dishes.

2, Szászi Endre Szigligeti Olaszrizling 2008

74 points

Ligh yellow. Lemon nose, later spring flowers. Soft, almost creamy taste with ripe goosebery. Short and sympathic.

3, Jásdi Csopaki Rizling 2008

72 points

Almost white. After a while, vanilla nose and oily move in the glass. Green salad taste, later alcohol taste, like a lemonade with alcohol. Try with fish.
