Pinot Noir from Eger
Date: January 27, 2012
The Pinot Noir, or as it was called in Hungary earlier: the Great Burgundy wine, found its home in Eger. Partly because of the similar climat, and mainly because of the beleif of local wine makers.

We started our blind test with Grof Buttler Cellar's 2007 pinot. Carbon black colour, overripe raspberry and plum in the nose. Sunny, sensual and long, like a penis growing advertisment. Some roasted aromas at the end. Place of purchase: www.bor-bolt.hu

Gal Tibor's 2003 wine light and browny, red currant and animality in the nose. Skinny but strong taste, for a Hungarian fish soup. It has more levels, and it's a typical Hungarian pinot noir. Place of purchase: http://www.bortarsasag.hu

Finally, the Orsolya Cellar's 2006 pinot is an oily and smoked product. In its taste you can find a complete medieval feast, vegetables and some sweetness. It was the more divinding piece of today. Place of purchase:  www.bor-bolt.hu

And now a pinot video from Jancis Robinson:
