Overseas Sauvignon Blanc
Date: August 20, 2011
Wines tested:
Closed to Cape Town, South-Africa located the Nederburg Cellary. Its 2009 Sauvignon blanc has creamy bouquet, tasty fruit drink character, a summer soft drink. It's easy to get used to drink it in big volume.
From another continent, Torres manages the Santa Digna Winery in Chile. Its 2009 Sauvignon Blanc has apple scent, than goosberry taste. Not long but enjoyable than a teenage petting.
Omaka Springs' 2009 Sauvigignon Blanc from New Zealand divided our team. I personally found it a light drink, but the others evaluated its orange and apple skin character. A fruit salad.
More matured and a bit gloomier the Mount Nelson Sauvignon Blanc 2007, with the same origin. Autumn leaves.

Traveling Wine Chick, Thanks for fighting the triffac and stopping by for a visit. Hwy 29 can be a beast on a sunny day, but were glad you enjoyed the wine. I certainly would have opted for the Sauvignon Blanc this weekend as well. As you saw the location is pretty prime, but the afternoons in the tasting room can be a little hectic. On your next visit to the valley we would love to host you in our club room for a private tasting. The club room is available to the public and can be reserved in advance for private & semi private experiences; a small charcuterie can be added to the tasting as well. Please give me a ring the next time your in the area so we can arrange something for you.
