Today, at the Memorial Day of the Fight against the Habsburg Monarchy we have opened Austrian Zweigelts.

The title is a bit confusing, of course in the 19th century there was no Zweigelt. This variety was produced by Fritz Zweigelt in 1922, who was principal of the winery school in Klosterneuburg. The variety is an interbreed of Blaufrankisch and St. Laurent. Today we have tried Zweigelts from 3 Austrian wine regions. I have bought the wines in supermarkets.
